Railways as an inspiration
The launching of railways turned out to be a milestone in the history of humanity. The invention stirred extreme emotions from the very beginning — fascinating and astonishing to some people it scared others and roused their uncertainty. These various impressions have been reflected in the rich cultural heritage: literature, painting, music and films. Although railways have been an excellent source of inspiration for many artists, it has also drawn upon new trends in art and culture. Historic railway stations designed in line with architectural styles characteristic of a specific period or former railway uniforms inspired by the fashion of the time provide a good example.
